Yana Alana: Between the Cracks
Teetering on the brink of cult status, whilst simultaneously on the verge of a nervous breakdown, Yana Alana is the divine and deluded alter ego of Sarah Ward, one of Australia’s fastest rising cabaret stars. Between the Cracks traverses the private places and deepest holes of this multi-award winning diva as she opens up and bares all. This is cabaret at its very best – incisive, hilarious, confronting, revealing and, most of all, musically divine.
Yana Alana imposed herself on Sarah in late 2006 in the award-winning first show Bite Me, with the follow-up Bite Me Harder coming in 2008, and a collaboration with Tha Paranas, In Concert, coming in 2010, going on to be nominated for six Green Room Awards. Between The Cracks premiered in 2013 as part of Midsumma Festival, going on to smash audiences at The Melbourne Cabaret Festival, The Feast Festival, and The Ballarat Festival.
“Between the Cracks is a blast. Swift, irreverent, ridiculously entertaining cabaret.” — ★★★★ The Age
“You’ll never regret seeing Yana Alana, up-close and rather personal. She is a pure force of nature (a blue one, of course), full of wit, a delightful lack of self-dignity, and laugh-out-loud moments” — ★★★★★ Aussie Theatre review
